About Dave Wilson Musical Instruments Located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Dave Wilson's Musical Instruments has specialized in buying and selling of vintage, modern and student woodwind and brass musical instruments for over twenty-five years. My username on Ebay is "Hornmania", where I have a solid reputation of selling musical instruments since the origination of Ebay in the late 1990's. I have received inquiries and shipped instruments to folks across the United States, as well as Europe, Japan, South America, and all around the Globe. I strive at all times to sell only quality instruments at a fair price, and to be as accurate as possible in my description of their condition. A lot of the business now is run right out of the house with an emphasis on face to face interactions with folks from Central Pennsylvania as well as folks from the Mid Atlantic areas towards Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Pittsburgh, as well as New York City, New England, to visitors dropping in from around the world who are visiting the States. We work strictly by appointment. I am constantly studying and researching "band" instruments, old and new, and love to talk shop with people in the know about "horns" in general. Procuring musical instruments is like antiquing in a way, part of the thrill is in finding and discovering them. I studied classical saxophone with David Bilger for 3 years, and also had lessons with with the saxophonists Dave Liebman, Joe Lovano, Bill Barron, Ralph Lalama, Tim Price, Glenn Guidone, Tom Stroman, as well as with guitarist Steve Giordano and pianist Kirk Reese. I have a degree in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College. I have had countless friends and acquaintances over the years who were Music Teachers either in a school system or college, or taught privately. Among the countless venues, I have performed at the Media, PA “Jazz by Night” festival, The Berk’s Jazz Fest, Harrisburg’s American Music Festival, Bethlehem Musikfest, Philadelphia's Jazz Bridge Sponsored "Neighborhood Concert Series", headlining at JazzFest in York, PA, the Manassas (VA) Wine & Jazz Festival, Herndon (VA) Music Festival, Penns Woods Winery Wine and Jazz Festival/"Wine and Jazz Under The Stars", Pittsburgh Cider & Mead Festival, Baltimore's Artscape, Central PA Arts Festival, People’s Choice Art and Music Festival, Jazz in the Attic (both in State College, PA) and the Scranton Jazz Festival among others. Dave also performed in New York City at the Somethin' Jazz Club and The Garage, venues and concerts in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Baltimore, and has made regular appearances at the famed Chris' Jazz Cafe in Philadelphia for several years now. With his Traditional Jazz group first the Canal Street Hot 6, then the Rampart Street Ramblers, he has played for the Florida Suncoast Jazz Society, The Tri-State Jazz Society, PA Jazz Society, among others. Over the years I have worked with the likes of pianists Jim Ridl, Phil Markowitz, bassists Tony Marino and Steve Varner, drummers Adam Nussbaum, Bill Goodwin and Marko Marcinko as well as pianists Steve Rudolph, Matt Hochmiller, saxophonist Tim Warfield and Philadelphia based guitarist Steve Giordano among others. I have five CD's released under The Dave Wilson Quartet. A particular performance love of mine as well has been to perform with various Jazz Big Bands as well as Concert Bands in the Central PA area, giving me a chance to “Read”. All these performance along with teaching opportunities have helped immensely in my experience and knowledge of woodwinds themselves as well as Brass musical instruments. |
