SOLD
Bach Stradivarius Model 37, #186863 (1980) Lacquer
Lacquered, serviced; Solid, original lacquer Elkhart model from the mid 80's. You might call this a “Player’s Horn” as it does have some significant lacquer wear, perhaps an enterprising young musician marched with it in the school band, the logo is sharp. Much of the lqcquer then is missing on the entire bell, going all the way back around the back bow; appears largely down to the bare brass. Had some dent work done work done on the back of the bell running back, not around the bell flare, and second small slide again; both done very well, not quite seamless but close. Seamless back bow. Working with one of the better dent removal technicians on the planet (no we cannot disclose who this, he is already busy enough!)  The bell/body brace was resoldered on the bell side, brace off of lead pipe leading to 2nd valve resesoldered; excellent work on both! No other dents or dings. (Look for pics coming up). Very smooth and fast valve response. Lead pipe is very straight; no dents or dings here. Has thumb hook. Original Case in very good condition. Serviced, flushed; plays very well. (Pics will be coming up). Excellent price! $1050.00.

BESSON

French Besson “Brevete” MADE BY KANSTUL, #4805 (early 1980’s) Silver
This is a Kanstul-Made “French Besson”. On the 2nd valve beneath the serial number it does say “F. Besson * Kanstul” Through our research, Here is what an owner of a similar one says about his similar model:
“I have a Besson Brevete by Kanstul…I purchased it in the early 1980's when Zig (Kanstul) worked in his Fullerton manufacturing facility prior to moving to Anaheim…It is serial #4425 revealing that Zig used a (4) digit serial number versus the English ones that used a (6) digit serial number if I am not mistaken…The year, make and model I have is the same year, make and model Wayne (Bergeron) played when he toured and recorded with Maynard (Ferguson).”
It is purported to have a bright sound and is highly collectible. It is really like an early Kanstul.
Serviced and in excellent shape, no dents or dings, no repairs. Has the thumb hook/Saddle. Comes in a new case. Sold at a competitive price. $1250.00

Rare Conn “SS3” “Doc Severinsen Model”, #300800 (1983-1985)
Silver plated in very good condition. Doc Severinsen endorsed this Conn Model for a short period of time. He was normally associated with Getzen models. It does not say is his name on the bell. 4 7/8 Inch Bell. 460 Bore. *Said to be Very Similar in design to the Bach 37.
 From the Trumpet Herald
"When Doc Severinsen left Getzen about 1980 he went with the Conn company for a few years. This was before Conn became a part of UMI and was still an independent company. Doc helped design a new line of professional trumpets which consisted of the "SS series" and the student"1000B Doc Severinsen Model". There was the SS 1,which was a bright lead/ solo horn which Doc himself played; then there were the SS 2, a light french type, and the 3 and 4 which progressively got darker in tone. The SS 1 was Doc's personal model. Jazz star Red Rodney also played and endorsed them."
Serviced and plays great! Nice Silver Plate. Comes in original case. Good, fair price on this one. $895.00

GETZEN

2 Vintage Getzen 900H Eterna Classic Professional Bb Trumpet with Tilted Bell in Silver Plate
I had two of these,(I sold one, and one remains), both with brand new cases purchased directly from Getzen. Purchased from the same party, they had serial numbers only 4 digits from each other-G3011 and G3015! It's hard to date these, as the Getzen serial number list does not seem to have a G prefix; however we think these are the original models from the 1960's, or at least 1970's. Featuring the original design specifications of the popular 1960s Eterna 900, Key of Bb, .460" bore, Nickel silver mouthpipe, Nickel silver inside tuning slides, 1st slide saddle, Adjustable 3rd slide ring. Both serviced, polished, and in very good condition! In the same style of the famous Dizzy Gillespie trumpets, these are real collector's items! $1400.
Getzen Capri 590LWT (Lacquer with trigger) #A30086 (Around 1979)
ML bore-.460. Lacquered finish, some scratchs. Has the first valve trigger. Vintage horn, collectible; serviced plays very well. No dents or dings, no bell or bow trauma.  comes in a brand new case. Excellent very quick Valve Response. I’m going to quote from the following description of a another 1979 Getzen Capri trumpet, on sale by a professional trumpet player.

“…Here is a nice example of a 41 year old Getzen Capri 590LWT (Lacquer With Trigger) that is in need of an owner...  Prior to the 1963 factory fire, Carl "Doc" Severinsen (Johnny Carson's bandleader on the "Tonight Show") became affiliated with Getzen, and as chief of research and development, designed the 900 Eterna and 590 Capri series of trumpets and cornets.  Both series were introduced in the fall of 1964 and garnered immediate kudos.  Initially, the Capri was cataloged as a semi-pro trumpet, but was demoted to intermediate status years later upon the introduction of the Eterna 700.  Nonetheless, it was good enough for Chet Baker who played one from 1986 through 1987, and used it on all of his recording sessions during that period.  The 590-S Capri is still in current production and can be found at a deep discount for $1,719….IMHO, these early models are better built, and have a better fit and finish than the current models.  Lastly, this 1979 model retains the solid nickel dodecahedron (12-sided) valve caps that were standard on all vintage pre-1963 Getzen models...much nicer than what is on the current models!
This 590LWT Capri is a medium weight 2 lb. - 5.6 oz. trumpet that will accommodate virtually any music style and acoustic venue.  The trumpet has a clear and resonant tone that is easily controlled...its sound is big, bold, rather round, centered and focused.  It is a free and open blowing horn with a rich, slightly warm tone that produces a sophisticated edge when pushed, and loves to be piloted in the stratosphere.  This horn has excellent intonation...the low register is not flat, and is very resonant.  The 5th harmonic is great, and so is the upper register intonation.  Slots are superb.  Responsive and flexible, the 590SWT makes a great jazz horn, but will perform well playing commercial, classical styles, and even performs well in studio sessions.”
A great price at $750

Getzen Capri 590LWT (Lacquer with trigger) #A3826 (Around 1982)
This is a very similar, really same model as the other Getzen Capri listed on this page, same model, same design, similar vintage, BUT…the lacquer has been stripped down to the bare brass. Wow! So we feel it plays with a lot of Zing! ML bore-.460. Has the first valve trigger. Vintage horn, collectible; serviced plays very well. No dents or dings, no bell or bow trauma. Comes in the original case! Excellent very quick Valve Response. I’m going to quote from the following description of a another 1979 Getzen Capri trumpet, on sale by a professional trumpet player.
